In a world demanding and insisting that all within it move mindlessly at light speed, it requires a scoundrel of mirth and merit to simply say "no."

Pessimism

In the most honest sense I can offer it to you dear reader, we as a species and society are hopelessly and irrevocably fucked. In the same manner one could and perhaps ought to view the progression of mankind from our primitive roots to our ostensibly advanced and enlightened state of being as evidence that we are on what one could consider an upward trajectory, we must at the same time observe and consider how little actually seems to change. Though our wars may not be fought in the open name of empire or conquest, the functional motivations for them more often than not rest with a convoluted representation of such, with modern nationalistic or religious propagandizing simply utilizing new tools to invoke old sentiments.

Likewise so many a domestic or internal matter of strife proves to invoke modernized reinterpretations of antiquated excuses for the existence of things such as poverty, addiction, crime, graft and corruption. Ranging from the Calvinist approaches which deem that god, or perhaps just the assigned or assumed lot in life is what leads people to ruin, up through more ideological orthodoxies insisting that all plights a society faces stems from its inability or refusal to adopt wholesale whatever precepts or assumed solutions the ideologue holds, the numerous excuses created for the miseries and plights are quite often, when held in comparison to those of old, merely polished and refined explanations or justifications for matters which have plagued mankind since its beginnings.
